Hadley Braaten is the recipient of the Fr. Pat Higgins Memorial Scholarship for the class of 2019.
Hadley has an excellent record of high school and community service and has been an excellent representative of our parish at other Catholic programs and groups available in our area, said Kevin Sullivan, the director of religious education here at St. Bernard.
In June, Hadley will give a week of service at Love Begins Here for her sixth summer!
In the past, she has been involved in the Frassati Fest planning team and the St. Vincent de Paul Youth Service Council.
Within our parish, Hadley has helped multiple summers at Vacation Bible School, is a seven-year youth choir participant, and has been a catechist for our elementary program for two years.
Applicants for this scholarship are asked to reflect on Fr. Pat’s favorite hymn, “The Servant Song.”
Hadley shared in her application, “There is a certain level of closeness… when we encounter those we serve, and this closeness is humble and kind.”
Hadley plans to further her education at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in the fall.
