St. Bernard Parish needs a new point of contact for Luke House, a community meal program in Madison.
On the first Wednesday of each month, a team of volunteers from St. Bernard prepares and serves a noon meal at Luke House.
The new point of contact would be responsible for:
--Scheduling food contributors and servers for each month;
--Providing interested parishioners with information about how to get involved in the program; and
--Coordinating the carpool to each month’s meal.
Maryanne Huttleston, the current contact for the program, said once a person has a general idea of the process, this job is not time-consuming.
“The most important aspect is being an available contact for people to call if a question arises,” she said. “I usually get maybe three to five calls or e-mails per month. The most concentrated block of time is the actual participation at the meal, which I try to do every month.”
Volunteers meet in the parish center kitchen at 9:30 a.m., and return to the church at around 1 p.m.
To volunteer for the position or for more information, please contact the parish office at 831-6531.
