On Holy Saturday, March 31, two from the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) and two Confirmation candidates will become full members of the Catholic Church.
Nakita Cheranev is a catechumen, who has not yet been baptized and will receive the Sacraments of Initiation — Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.
Joel Mendelin is a candidate, who has been baptized as Christian and is seeking the Sacraments of the Eucharist and Confirmation.
Two parishioners, Antonio Bautista and Elpidio Placca, will receive Confirmation.
On Feb. 18, Cheranev and Mendelin gathered at St. John the Baptist Church in Waunakee with Bishop Robert C. Morlino of the Diocese of Madison and about 90 other catechumens and candidates at the annual Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion.
At the ceremony, they were recognized and accepted by Morlino to receive the sacraments, and Nakita signed the Book of Elect in preparation for his Baptism.
RCIA is the process through which adults are introduced to the Catholic faith and become members of the church.
Please help them feel welcome and pray for them as they continue their journey of faith.
