A blood donor recognition Mass will be held at 9 a.m., July 29 in the church.
Jerry Smith has offered the intention on behalf Knights of Columbus Council #4549 for St. Bernard parishioners, who have donated blood this past year.
The Red Cross blood donor project was adopted by our KC council in 1998.
St. Bernard parish became a “One-A-Week” club with the goal of having donors provide one pint of blood per week every week of the year.
The parish total was 1,312 donations (122 pints) for 2015.
Unfortunately, the Red Cross is no longer able to provide our yearly totals, but Smith estimates that the parish has provided about 1,500 donations through the end of 2017.
“I am quite comfortable that many of our donors kept giving at a reasonable level,” Smith said. “They were and still are a wonderful group! We can be very proud of them.”
