Thanks to Althea Burrier, who has volunteered as the new point of contact for Luke House, a community meal program in Madison.
Althea is very active in St. Bernard parish as a Eucharistic minister and a former religious education teacher.
She attended her first meal on Feb. 1 and had this to say about her experience:
“Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the Luke House program. The group of people from St. Bernard are the best. I also came away with such a feeling of being privileged to serve the folks who came in for lunch. They thank us, but I felt like I should be thanking them.”
On the first Wednesday of each month, a team of volunteers from St. Bernard prepares and serves the noon meal at Luke House.
Volunteers meet in the parish center kitchen at 9:30 a.m., and return to the church at around 1 p.m.
If you are interested in joining Althea’s team, please contact her at 608-833-0350 or aburrier4@yahoo.com.
