St. Bernard’s parishioners are encouraged to join the upcoming national campaign of “40 Days for Life” starting on Sept. 26 and ending on Nov. 4.
Each fall, Madison joins hundreds of cities across North America in conducting around-the-clock vigils to end abortion in their city.
In Madison, the vigil takes place on the east side at Planned Parenthood located at 3706 Orin Road.
The vigil is a peaceful campaign that focuses on prayer, fasting and public witness to God’s beautiful gift of life that all of us receive - from the moment of conception to the natural end of our life.
Participants pray and fast with a repentant and contrite spirit to our heavenly Father, begging to hear the prayers of His people to heal our lives, our churches, our communities, our nation and our world.
We pray that conversions of hearts will be granted to again be a culture of life that protects the most vulnerable of His gifts.
You can sign up for one hour of prayer anytime during the day or evening that best fits your schedule.
We hope to have St. Bernard parishioners commit to a two-hour block per week during the vigil.
For more, you can log onto vigilforlife.org or call Mike Gabor at 608-228-0104.
Of course, prayers and fasting dedicated to this Vigil for Life campaign is appreciated wherever and whenever you are able to during the 40 days.
The most common prayers said during the Vigil are the rosary, the chaplet of Divine Mercy, and other dedicated devotionals. Fasting options range from small to larger sacrifices.
As Pope Francis has said, we are to be the medics in the field hospital of this hurting world.
