Emily Ruplinger is the recipient of the Fr. Pat Higgins Memorial Scholarship for the class of 2022. Applicants for this scholarship are asked to reflect on Fr. Pat’s favorite hymn, “The Servant Song.” Ruplinger said the song remind her of her junior year. She was chosen to be on the Frassati Fest planning team with 20 other teens from around the diocese. Ruplinger attended the three-day event during her freshman and sophomore years. “The talks I heard and the connections I made are still with me today,” she said. “After seeing the impact Frassati Fest had on me, I couldn't help but want to help give others the same experience.” Unfortunately, the planning team had to adapt their plans for Covid. They had technical difficulties and logistical issues, but about 100 teens participated, she said. Ruplinger said she learned that she can do anything through God. “It wasn’t about us,” she said. “It was about our community and helping them grown in their faith and become better people. We never lost hope or our trust in God. “As I move into the next stage of my life, I think it’s important to remember that I have the ability to see things through and persevere as long as I trust in God and His plan.” Ruplinger will attend UW-Madison.
