Fr. Michael Wanta was ordained in 2021 and has served as a parochial vicar at St. Bernard and St. Henry in Watertown for nearly the last two years. Hobbies/Interests: Although he doesn’t get the chance very often, he enjoys camping, backpacking and mountain climbing. He was the president of the rock-climbing club in college, and he hiked the Camino de Santiago in Spain. He grew up playing hockey but also gave cross country, frisbee, basketball and soccer a try. He says that running and frisbee have stayed with him the longest. He has also recently started to learn how to play the cello. He pretends to enjoy reading, but in reality, prefers talking about ideas rather than reading about them. Family: He was born and raised in Oregon, Wis. His parents are originally from Milwaukee but went to UW-Madison, where they settled down. He is the third of four children with an older brother and sister and a younger sister. He went to public school through fifth grade, but then attended Catholic school through high school. Education: Bachelors of Arts in Theology and Classical Studies from Seton Hall University; Pontifical Bachelor of Sacred Theology from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome.
